Club Picnic
Saturday, September 12, 2009
09:00-14:00
Club Picnic at Lindo Lake County Park in Lakeside
The Picnic will officially kick off at 9:00am, but you can get there
earlier if you'd like...we'll be there around 6:00am to grab the
picnic tables and pavilion before someone else does.
The Club will provide left over Field Day
Steaks, Hamburgers and Hot Dogs with all the fixin's, onions, water
and soda.
What should you bring?
1. This picnic will be "Pot Luck", so bring your favorite
side dish, salad or desert to share with Club members in attendance.
2. Lawn Chairs to sit in! There are lot's of picnic tables with
benches, but they're not very comfortable to sit on for very long.
At our Picnic on July 25th, we found that no one used the picnic
tables to sit at...Please bring your own chair(s)!
The picnic will be under the "covered stage"
in the North East corner of Lindo Lakes Park in Lakeside (look for
our 100' communications tower and trailer). Live musical entertainment
will be provided during lunch by Polo Navarro and the volume will
be turned down this time.
To get to the Park, from El Cajon, take Hwy 67 north to
Lakeside. When you reach the end of the Freeway (by the Lakeside
"Rodeo" grounds), there will be a traffic light. That's
Mapleview. Turn right and make an immediate right on "Maine
Ave". Go straight on Maine to the third street on the left.
That will be "Lindo Ln" (Woodside Ave turns into Lindo
Ln on the east side of Maine Ave). Turn left at the first street
you come to..that will be Park St and it will take you into Lindo
Lakes Park. Our Club Picnic will be in the covered picnic area at
the first turnoff on the right. If you go across the lake, you've
gone too far. There's lot's of parking available along Park St near
our Picnic area. If you are like me and depend on GPS to get you
where you're going, the coordinates are:
Lat - N32 degrees 51.465'
Lon - W116 degrees 55.030'
We'll have "talk-In" on our WA6BGS Club repeater
system and will be issuing WAMO #000 during the Picnic. We have
repeaters on 2 meters, 1.25 meters (220MHz) and 70cm (440MHz) which
will be linked together during the Picnic. For a list of our repeater
frequencies, visit www.wa6bgs.org and click on the "Repeater"
button on the left side of the "home" page. We'll also
have our Tower Trailer set up at the park with both a VHF/UHF antenna
as well a our Club 2 element Tri-Band Yagi (20 meters, 15 meters
and 10 meters). If you want to "Get on the Air" at the
Picnic, feel free to do so. |
