Club Picnic

Saturday, September 12, 2009
09:00-14:00
Club Picnic at Lindo Lake County Park in Lakeside
The Picnic will officially kick off at 9:00am, but you can get there earlier if you'd like...we'll be there around 6:00am to grab the picnic tables and pavilion before someone else does.

The Club will provide left over Field Day Steaks, Hamburgers and Hot Dogs with all the fixin's, onions, water and soda.

What should you bring?
1. This picnic will be "Pot Luck", so bring your favorite side dish, salad or desert to share with Club members in attendance.
2. Lawn Chairs to sit in! There are lot's of picnic tables with benches, but they're not very comfortable to sit on for very long. At our Picnic on July 25th, we found that no one used the picnic tables to sit at...Please bring your own chair(s)!

The picnic will be under the "covered stage" in the North East corner of Lindo Lakes Park in Lakeside (look for our 100' communications tower and trailer). Live musical entertainment will be provided during lunch by Polo Navarro and the volume will be turned down this time.

To get to the Park, from El Cajon, take Hwy 67 north to Lakeside. When you reach the end of the Freeway (by the Lakeside "Rodeo" grounds), there will be a traffic light. That's Mapleview. Turn right and make an immediate right on "Maine Ave". Go straight on Maine to the third street on the left. That will be "Lindo Ln" (Woodside Ave turns into Lindo Ln on the east side of Maine Ave). Turn left at the first street you come to..that will be Park St and it will take you into Lindo Lakes Park. Our Club Picnic will be in the covered picnic area at the first turnoff on the right. If you go across the lake, you've gone too far. There's lot's of parking available along Park St near our Picnic area. If you are like me and depend on GPS to get you where you're going, the coordinates are:
Lat - N32 degrees 51.465'
Lon - W116 degrees 55.030'

We'll have "talk-In" on our WA6BGS Club repeater system and will be issuing WAMO #000 during the Picnic. We have repeaters on 2 meters, 1.25 meters (220MHz) and 70cm (440MHz) which will be linked together during the Picnic. For a list of our repeater frequencies, visit www.wa6bgs.org and click on the "Repeater" button on the left side of the "home" page. We'll also have our Tower Trailer set up at the park with both a VHF/UHF antenna as well a our Club 2 element Tri-Band Yagi (20 meters, 15 meters and 10 meters). If you want to "Get on the Air" at the Picnic, feel free to do so.

Silent Auction

Silent Auction Rules

• Auctioneer announces that He/She is holding a silent auction. He/She also posts what the item being bid on is and an optional minimum bid i.e. $20.00.

• Everyone that is participating in the auction privately writes down their WAMO number, Call sign , Name, and their Bid on the item. Then Hands it to the Auctioneer. The Auctioneer will then time code the bid and place it in the Silent Auction Box.

• Everyone is entitled to no more than (2) two bids per item. Only the first two bids from any participant will be valid. All bids must be deposited in the Silent Auction Box no latter than 10 minutes into the first meeting break. The bids are compared by the auctioneer and the highest bid is the winner. If there is more than one winning bid amount, than the lowest time code is the winner.

• The winner will be announced when we resume after break. Cash or check (payable to A.R.C.E.C.) must be paid in full prior to the end of the meeting the day of the Silent Auction. Auctioneer will then hand item(s) to the winner.

The auctioneer posts ONLY the person who won, the price, and time stamp if needed - so everyone knows that no scamming is involved.

Note from Membership Chair

Greetings from the El Cajon Amateur Radio Club!

Upon reviewing the Roster, I note that your membership has expired. We are having a membership drive through December 1, 2008. If you renew your ARCEC Membership and your dues are post marked on or before December 1, 2008, you will receive one ticket for the Early Bird Membership Drawing, which will be held at the Christmas Party on December 16, 2008 at the Home Town Buffet located on Main Street in El Cajon at 6:00 p.m. The rules for the Membership Drive and early bird drawing are on the website.

Would you please take a moment to complete the membership application, which can also be found on the website, and mail it and your dues to: ARCEC, Membership Chair, P.O. Box 50, El Cajon, CA 92022. Dues are $18.00 per year for an individual membership and $30.00 per year for a family membership.

As you know, the Counterpoise has gone on line and now everyone can receive it by email at the same time it is published. If you would like to receive the Counterpoise by email, please email me at kc6tbg@cox.net so I can add you to this list. This has saved the club a lot of money. If you still want to receive the Counterpoise by mail, please email me and let me know so I can add you to the mailing list or you can sign up on the mailing list at the meeting.

Lastly, due to the Counterpoise going on line, beginning January 1, 2009, everyone’s yearly membership dues will be due on December 31st of the proceeding year. This means that everyone’s dues for 2009 are due on December 31, 2008. If the dues you paid in 2008 extend in to 2009, you will pay prorated dues for 2009 based on the month your dues expire.

The El Cajon Amateur Radio Club sincerely hopes that you will renew your membership at this time and that you will continue to be an active member of our club.
